Sergio Castro – Executive Chef
A culinary veteran in the industry with over 25 years experience, Sergio started his training in South America at the age of 10 following in the footsteps of his mother and grandmother who was an excellent chef. In his early teens, he was cooking for family gatherings of around 50 people. By 16, he started as a prep cook in one of the most prestigious hotels in Lima, El Cesar Hotel where he worked his way up to Sous Chef. Sergio moved to Florida in 1989 and over the years has worked under many good chefs where he has learned the hard work and dedication required to succeed in an environment where everyone works in harmony. He has experience in large volume catering as well as upscale restaurants and private country clubs like Country Club of Sapphire Valley, NC. He is a graduate of Culinary Arts from Newberry College in Boston, MA and says he learned the most working under Chef Paul Egan at the Marriott Burlington in Boston, MA. Sergio has been married to the same wonderful woman, Kelli for 21 years. The couple lives in Brevard, NC and have 4 beautiful children ranging in age from 21 years to 16 months.
Keri Higgins – Sous Chef
Keri Higgins, a native to the palmetto state, was born in Conway SC and settled into Simpsonville at the age of 13. Keri developed her love for cooking at 5 years old, while baking cakes and cooking Sunday dinners with her Grandmother, Nanny. A 2009 graduate of Greenville Technical College, it was there she honed her skills of delicious southern cuisine and rekindled her love of baking. Keri joined the Greenville Marriott team in 2011 and has since been an exemplary employee, working her way up quickly through the culinary ranks. When she’s not in the kitchen, Keri enjoys taking long walks and spending quality time with her husband Chris and their beautiful daughter, Harper Grace.
Payton Jamieson – Restaurant Manager
A South Carolina native, Payton grew up in St. Mathews and remained in the Carolina’s through her college years. A 2013 graduate of Clemson University, majoring in parks and recreations with a focus on travel and tourism, Payton was also a part of CLEMSONLiVE, a campus group centered around organizing free activities for Clemson students. Payton began working as part of the Marriott team early 2013, quickly discovering her love of the hospitality business. A natural leader, Payton maintains structure and camaraderie amongst her team, all the while creating relationships with hotel guests. Payton strives for longevity in the food and beverage industry, and sees her career path following along exceptional cuisine and southern hospitality. In her free time, Payton loves a good book or exploring the trails of Paris Mountain State Park with her dog, Oliver.
